Abstract
The purpose of the study was to establish the relationship between value addition, market growth and project success among small holder farmers’ projects in Masaka city. A case of Masaka Cooperative Union ltd. The objectives of the study were: To study the relationship between value addition and project success among small holder farmers’ projects in Masaka City Council, to examine the relationship between Value addition and Market Growth among small holder farmers’ projects in Masaka City Council, to examine the relationship between Market Growth and Project Success among small holder farmers’ projects in Masaka City Council, to examine the mediating effect of Market Growth in the relationship between Value addition and the Project success among small holder farmers’ projects in Masaka City Council. Questionnaires were deployed to capture data from a sample of 92 projects using a co relational research design but usable data was acquired from 64 projects. For reliability, Cronbach Alpha coefficient obtained was above 0.700 signifying reliable instrument. The tool was valid based on expert judgment and content validity index of above 0.700 computed. The findings show that there was a positive significant relationship between value addition and project success (r = .510, p<.05) again a positive significant relationship between value addition and market growth(r = .536, p<.05) and a moderate positive relationship between market growth and project success (r = .528, p<.05) The study recommended developing and executing tax free policies to value addition equipment purchase, continuous trainings on packaging, branding, certification, and market linkage, asset financing at friendly interest rates, timely education of women and youth, provide soft and hard infrastructure and prioritize organic and climate smart agricultural grants and revolving finance.
