Abstract
This study was aimed at examining the relationship between ICT Attitude, ICT resource capability and ICT adoption by primary school teachers in Kampala. The study used a cross sectional research design with a sample size of 367 Primary Schools in Kampala from which 263 responded indicating a response rate of 72%. The data was tested for reliability, analyzed using SPSS v23 and results presented based on the study objectives. Findings revealed a significant and positive relationship between ICT Attitude and ICT adoption. There is a positive significant relationship between ICT resource capability and ICT adoption. Further still findings indicated that there is a combined effect of ICT attitude and ICT resource capability on ICT adoption among Primary Schools in Kampala. Overall ICT attitude and ICT resource capability explain 39.7% of the variance in ICT adoption among Primary Schools in Kampala. In addition, ICT resource capability was found a stronger predictor of ICT adoption compared to ICT attitude. Therefore, the study recommended that primary schools in Kampala should avail the required hard wares and soft wares equipment, and also equip teachers with ICT knowledge and skills to enhance ICT adoption by primary school teachers in Kampala. Primary school should consider improving their staff attitude towards ICT to enhance ICT adoption in the schools and also invest development of their staff to attain ICT competence, knowledge, skills and experience to apply ICT knowledge while teaching pupils. Further studies may also be conducted to ascertain other predictors of ICT adoption among Primary Schools in Uganda.
