Abstract
The study examined the relationship between innovation capability, market orientation, and the business performance of Agro processing firms in Kampala Capital City. The study was premised on the following research objectives: examine the relationship between innovation capability and business performance; examine the relationship between market orientation and business performance; and examine the relationship between innovation capability, market orientation, and business performance of Agro processing firms. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design along with a quantitative research approach. In this study, the researcher distributed 127 questionnaires, of which only 120 were returned, representing a response rate of 94.5%. Quantitative data analysis was done using regression and correlation analyses. Study findings revealed a positive and significant relationship between innovation capability and business performance. It also found a positive relationship between market orientation and business performance. The study recommends that managers should increase market research efforts by investing in robust market research to gain deeper insights into customer preferences, needs, and trends. Also, policymakers should support research and development by creating policies that encourage agro-processing firms to invest in research and development to create innovative products and services that address market demands.
