Abstract
This study was aimed at establishing the influence of ICT skills and students' perceptions on the adoption of e-learning among university students in Uganda. This study was greatly based on the objectives: To examine the relationship between ICT skills and the adoption of e-learning among university students, to examine the relationship between student‟s perception and adoption of e learning among university students and to determine the combined effect of ICT skills and student's perception on the adoption of e-learning among university students. The study adopted a cross sectional research and quantitative design with a sample size of 384 university students from which 347 responded indicating a response rate of 90%. The data was tested for reliability, analyzed using SPSS v23 and results presented based on the study objectives. Findings revealed a significant and positive relationship between ICT skills and the adoption of e-learning among university students. Further still findings indicated that there is a significant positive relationship between student‟s perception and adoption of e-learning among university students. Overall ICT skills and student's perception explain 43.5% of the variance in adoption of e-learning among university students. In addition, student's perception was found a stronger predictor of adoption of e-learning among university students compared to ICT skills. The study recommended that Universities in Uganda should improve the students ICT skills in order to enhance eLearning adoption among student. Much Emphasis should be given to encouraging good perceptions towards usefulness and ease of using elearning platforms embrace to enhance adoption of elearning among university students. Further studies may also be conducted to ascertain other predictors of e-elearning adoption among university students.
