The study was premised on the following research objectives: to examine the relationship between financial literacy and technology adoption of merchant payments technologies, to examine the relationship between technology acceptance and technology adoption merchant payments technologies and to examine the effect of financial literacy and technology acceptance on technology adoption of merchant payments technologies. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design along with a quantitative research approach. In this study, the researcher distributed 380 questionnaires of which only 310 questionnaires were returned representing a response rate of 81.6%. Quantitative data analysis was done using regression and correlation analyses. Study findings revealed a positive relationship between financial literacy and technology adoption of merchant payments technologies. The study found a positive and significant relationship between technology acceptance and technology adoption of merchant payments technologies. Findings revealed that merchants who are eager to learn more and make financial decisions independently can invest in payment technologies that are faster and efficient in their operations. It was further observed that merchants that find it easy to learn how to use payment methods and have the necessary knowledge to use payment technologies can know how to use most of the payments systems. It was recommended that providers of new digital technology should pay more attention to promoting the usefulness of their services.
