- ItemE-Procurement, Risk Management and Procurement Performance of Food and Beverage Manufacturing Firms in Kampala.(2023) Agaba, MartinSound procurement performance is vital to all organizations because it boosts the competitiveness of firms (Hamza, Gerbi, & Ali, 2017). Though procurement performance is key in both public and private entities, it is more pronounced in the private sector. This is because of the competitiveness associated with the private sector. As such, procurement performance has become a foundation for private firms‟ success. Business organizations that do not continuously improve their procurement performance find themselves unable to compete because of poor quality products, delayed deliveries, and other financial and technical risks (Bag, Wood, Mangla, & Luthra, 2020). Besides, procurement accounts for close to 50% of the company‟s expenditure in most of the firms. Procurement performance entails ensuring the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the procurement function, and it is an integral part of organizational performance (Njeru, 2015). Globally, procurement has been used as one of the fundamental operations of most organisations for many years (Hong and Kwon, 2012). Organisations have used procurement to save costs and support other functions of the organisation. According to Fan and Stevenson (2018) organisations which have exhibited a sound procurement performance globally have increased productivity and positively improved their overall performance.
