    Institutional Pressures, Information Technology Capabilities, Supply Chain Integration and Logistics Social Responsibility: A Case of Manufacturing Firms in Uganda.

    The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between institutional pressures, information technology capabilities, supply chain integration and logistics social responsibility using a case of manufacturing firms in Uganda. Through a cross-sectional survey research design, quantitative data was collected from a sample of 143 firms operating in Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono districts with a response rate of 59.1%. Primary data was collected using self-administered structured questionnaires that were either hand delivered or mailed to the respondents. The analysis of data was conducted using descriptive statistics for respondents and firm characteristics, and correlations and regression analyses using SPSS software to assess the associations between different pairs of variables studied. From the study results, positive and significant relationships were established between all pairs of variables in accordance with the research objectives and questions. In particular, there was a positive and significant relationship between institutional pressures and logistics social responsibility; information technology capabilities and logistics social responsibility, institutional pressures and supply chain integration; Information technology capabilities and supply chain integration; and supply chain integration and logistics social responsibility in Ugandan manufacturing firms. The analysis using regression indicated that the three independent variables i.e. Institutional pressures, information technology capabilities, information technology capabilities and supply chain integration predict up to 59.4% of the variation in logistics social responsibility. The study suggested multiple policy and managerial recommendations focusing on understanding and responding to institutional pressures, improving information technology capabilities and supply chain integration in order to enhance logistics social responsibility in manufacturing firms.
