Faculty Of Procurement & Logistics Management

The Department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management is an Academic unit in the Faculty of Procurement and logistics management. It is located in Makerere University Business School (MUBS) main campus on Plot 21A Port bell Road, Nakawa, about 8 Kms from Kampala, the Capital City of Uganda. The idea to introduce Procurement and Supply Chain management at MUBS was actualized in 2004 by introducing the option of Procurement and Supply Management on the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Degree. Over the years, the Department has grown to offer programmes ranging from Diploma, undergraduate and post graduate degrees (Masters and PhD) programmes. MUBS is therefore the pioneer provider of procurement and SCM Education not only in Uganda but in the region as well.

The department currently houses the Bachelor of Transport and Logistics Management and several logistics course units offered by other programs, the Department is also in the final stages of developing the Masters of Science in Transport and Logistics as well as other professional and short courses. The number of students currently offering Bachelor of Transport and Logistics Management stands at 822 while the academic staff are15. In addition to teaching the department conducts several activities to foster research, teaching and learning for example field trips for students. Our students visit different places to enhance their learning experience for example warehouses, inland cargo depots, airports, ports among others. Additionally our staff participate in both local and international conferences. The department also supports the Transport and Logistics Innovation Challenge which is hosted by the students association (MUTLA).
