Abstract
Description
Among the rituals performed in imbalu include: Brewing local beer for people (relatives) who come to witness the circumcision of the boy. There is also a ritual of brewing the beer for the gourd as well as the ritual where the candidate is smeared with yeast. All these rituals are accompanied by music and dance. This recording is of the music which was performed by candidates and their escorts when they were going to the stream to collect water for brewing. There is also a situation where candidates are invited by relatives to eat. As they eat, candidates sing and dance. This is the recording put under "eating" on CD. After the candidates eating they are taken to the venue for smearing.
