Abstract
This study aimed to examine the relationship between supplier relationships, inventory management and the performance of furniture companies in Kampala, Uganda. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey of 125 furniture companies operating in Kampala was conducted. Accordingly, 25 furniture companies were selected from each of the five divisions of Kampala using both quota non-probability and Purposive sampling techniques. Data was collected from primary sources to triangulate and validate the research findings. This data was obtained through questionnaires administered to respondents. According to Resource Based View (RBV) theory, effective supplier relationships and adequate inventory management are not just operational choices but rather strategic capabilities that, when aligned properly, enhance responsiveness and innovation, strengthen internal resources and drive sustained superior performance that competitors cannot match. The results obtained aligned with the research objectives of the study. The independent variables of this study predicted the performance, and these variables were positively and significantly related to the performance of furniture companies in Kampala, Uganda. While prior studies have independently examined the effects of supplier relationships and inventory management on the performance of furniture companies in Kampala, Uganda, the study aimed to address these gaps by investigating the combined influence of both factors on company performance.
