Abstract
This study was guided by four main objectives namely, to explore the status of project governance in FUFA projects, to explore the status of project resources in FUFA projects, to explore the status of project performance of FUFA projects, and to explore the possible contribution of project governance and project resources in fostering project performance. An inductive qualitative approach was adopted when undertaking the study. Purposive and snowball were the techniques used to select the 13 participants who took part in the study. Semi structured interviews were conducted in data collection. The findings indicate that FUFA mainly pursues three major projects, namely, Capacity development projects, infrastructural projects, and Technology related projects for review. The participants observed that their analysis of project performance was assessed through priority, timeliness in terms of the earmarked start period, timeliness in terms of completion, value for money, achievement of the earmarked objectives, satisfaction of the beneficiaries and quality of project outputs. It emerged that, by large, FUFA had satisfactorily performed well in capacity development projects. It further emerged that FUFA had good project governance and technological resources. However, FUFA had inadequate number of personnel and financial resources. In respect to the factors that influence project performance, governance, project resources, sponsorship, stakeholder engagement and accountability were the main factors that influenced project performance. Drawing from the findings, a model that included the said factors was constructed.
