The purpose of this study was to assess employee benefit practices at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Uganda, with particular emphasis on the benefits provided, the challenges affecting their implementation, and the management strategies that can improve these practices. The study was prompted by persistent employee dissatisfaction, high staff turnover, absenteeism, and declining organizational performance despite the existence of various employee benefit programs. A cross-sectional quantitative research design was adopted. The study targeted 60 employees of NWSC, from whom a sample of 52 respondents was selected using stratified and simple random sampling techniques. Primary data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Version 25). Descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations, were used to present the findings. The findings revealed that NWSC offers several employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid leave, and flexible working arrangements. Paid time off emerged as the most highly rated employee benefit, while performance bonuses, employee recognition, travel benefits, and training and development opportunities were rated relatively low. The study further established that employee benefit practices are constrained by limited budget allocations, inadequate communication about available benefits, insufficient employee participation, administrative complexities, and perceptions of inequitable benefit distribution. The study recommends strengthening communication on employee benefits, increasing investment in employee development, adopting technology to improve benefits administration, expanding flexible benefit options, and ensuring equitable and transparent implementation of benefit policies. The study concludes that effective employee benefit practices are essential for improving employee motivation, satisfaction, retention, and overall organizational performance at NWSC.
