dc.description.abstractThe Performance of District Local Governments of Bunyoro Sub-region is still compromised. Almost half (47.6%) of roles and responsibilities executable by employees in Local Governments (LG) are not fulfilled in time. Activities are postponed from one quarter to another (United Nations E-Government Survey, 2020). This study aimed at examining the relationship between Knowledge Management, Employee Commitment and Employee Performance in the District Local Governments of Bunyoro Sub-Region in Uganda. The study captured the responses of 229 Employees from the two District Local Governments (DLG) of Kiryandongo and Buliisa in Bunyoro Sub-Region. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics using SPSS (Version 11.5) And the goal was accomplished by testing the associations between the variables. The results Revealed how the various variables related to each other as determined by the Pearson Correlation Coefficient. The findings indicated that, knowledge management and employee performance are Significantly and positively correlated. Additionally, it demonstrated a positive and significant Correlation between employee performance and commitment. Employee commitment and Knowledge management were also found to be positively and significantly correlated. The findings Also indicated that, knowledge management and employee commitment were positive significant Predictors of employee performance while mediation results indicated that employee commitment Partially and significantly mediates the relationship between knowledge management and Employee performance of lgs in Bunyoro Sub-region. The study concludes that knowledge Management and employee commitments are vital aspects in enhancing employee performance in The context of lgs. The study recommends that, dlgs of Bunyoro Sub-region should prioritize In knowledge management through; knowledge acquisition, knowledge capture, knowledge Sharing and knowledge application. It also recommends that dlgs of Bunyoro Sub-region should Create an environment that fosters employee commitment particularly in form of affective Commitment, normative commitment and continuance commitment. This would ultimately Improve employee performance in this sub-region and lastly, the Ministry of Local Government Should budget for knowledge management activities so that dlgs of Bunyoro Sub-region are able to facilitate these activities. This study informs both policy and practical implication on knowledge Management and employee commitment as discussed in the subsequent chapters.
