Agricultural project sustainability is a foundation of Uganda’s development, particularly under frameworks like the Parish Development Model (PDM). However, sustainability remains a persistent challenge due to limited risk management practices and low adoption of transformative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). The study examines the relationship between AI adoption, project risk management, and the sustainability of agricultural projects in Mukono District. Guided by the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) framework, a quantitative research design was conducted using questionnaires distributed to project stakeholders. The study findings show a significant positive correlation between project risk management and project sustainability, and between AI adoption and project sustainability. Individually, AI adoption accounts for a 39.0% improvement in project sustainability, while risk management contributes 25.6%. Although the combined model explains 14.6% of the variance in project sustainability, the study establishes that AI adoption (β = .346, p < .001) is the most significant predictor, with project risk management (β = .097, p > .05) playing a supportive but less dominant role. These results demonstrate that the strategic adoption of AI technologies can independently and substantially enhance sustainability outcomes, especially when complemented by proactive risk management. The study concludes that targeted investment in AI infrastructure and risk management training is sufficient to enhance agricultural project sustainability in Uganda’s rural contexts.
