Abstract
Government interventions in public spending, policy formation, and the provision of socioeconomic infrastructure are influenced by the productivity levels of government agencies. The existing productivity levels of personnel in local governments are not up to the standards established by the citizens they are employed to serve. The study's objective intended to look into the connection between worker commitment and diversity in the workforce and productivity. In the study, a cross-sectional survey was employed, a case study methodology, and a correlational design to precisely determine the relationship between the components. Morgan & Krejcie (1970) estimated the sample size of 226 Koboko local government employees using a sample distribution table. The researcher distributed 226 questionnaires to sub-county, district, and municipal personnel. A response rate of 55.8% was obtained from 188 questionnaires that were completed. The data was analyzed using regression, correlation, and descriptive methods using SPSS version 25. The correlation research's results demonstrated a substantial and positive association between worker productivity and workforce diversity. It also revealed a high positive correlation. According to the regression analysis, employee dedication and diversity in the workforce both predict employee productivity by 55.8%. The Koboko local government's management should prioritize employee engagement since it has a strong correlation with worker productivity. This can be accomplished by setting clear objectives, outlining duties, putting in place an alluring compensation plan, and giving employees possibilities for professional progression. There are other tactics that the Koboko District local government can use to increase employee productivity, such as recognizing and involving staff in decision-making. The Koboko local government and technocrats should proactively coordinate their workforce diversity initiatives to foster innovation, problem-solving, creativity, and knowledge transfer, as well as overall employee productivity. To increase effectiveness, efficiency, and overall productivity, local government should support an environment at work that welcomes diversity in the workforce and motivates committed workers.
