The study objectives were: to examine the relationship between inter-project collaboration and project sustainability, the relationship between societal acceptance and project sustainability, and the mediating effect of societal acceptance on the relationship between inter-project collaboration and project sustainability among youth livelihood projects in Mbarara District. To do this, the study adopted a cross-sectional and correlational design using a sample of 90 youth livelihood projects. Three respondents filled out the questionnaire per project: the project chairperson, the project secretary, project treasurer. Correlation and regression analyses were performed using SPSS V23, to answer the study questions. The results were presented based on the study objectives. The study results revealed that both inter-project collaboration and societal acceptance independently contribute to the sustainability of youth livelihood projects in Mbarara district. While both factors are important, the role of inter-project collaboration is slightly more pronounced. However, the expected mediation effect of societal acceptance on the relationship between inter-project collaboration and project sustainability was not supported. Future research should explore other potential mediators or contextual factors that might influence these relationships. Additionally, it is essential to invest in continuous training and development programmes for project leadership. Furthermore, Project implementers should prioritize strategies that strengthen member commitment, resource sharing, shared goals, stakeholder satisfaction, and community participation to ensure the long-term success and impact of their initiatives.
