Abstract
The study looked at opportunistic behaviour, isomorphic forces and procurement officials’ ‘ethical behaviour and the objectives were; to establish the relationship between opportunistic behaviour and procurement officials’ ethical behaviour, to determine the relationship between isomorphic forces and procurement officials’ ethical behaviour and to investigate the relationship between Isomorphic forces and opportunistic behaviour. The study adopted a quantitative cross sectional survey research design. Stratified random sampling was used to acquire a sample of 245 procuring and disposing entities. Primary data was collected from the respondents and statistical package for social sciences was used to analyse it. The correlation results indicated a negative and significant relationship between opportunistic behaviour as well as isomorphic forces and ethical behaviour. In regards to opportunistic behaviour and isomorphic forces, the results indicated that they have an insignificant relationship. This means that a change in opportunistic behaviour does not impact significantly on the change in isomorphic forces. The study concludes that It is necessary to ensure restriction on the information that is used in the organization and to double check it to ensure that it is not distorted, confusing or even incomplete in order to aid the officials to make the most appropriate decisions for the organization and Organizations should not continuously adopt practices of other organizations and force the officials to implement them through placing penalties but rather allow them to practice what their professional trainings direct them to do in order to promote their ethical behaviour.
