dc.description.abstractThe study intended to examine the risk management practices in Roko Construction Company. The objectives which guided the study were to: examine the risk management practices, analyze the challenges that construction firms face in putting in place risk management practices and establish the strategies necessary for Roko construction firm to put risk management practices in place. A cross sectional study design was considered suitable because it’s descriptive potential and friendliness in data presentation. A sample size of 103 respondents was from the population of 140 people. A questionnaire is a research instrument consisting of a set of either closed-ended and or open-ended questions that are asked for purposes of gathering information from respondents. It was found out that enabling employees to enjoy a safe working environment with the health examination provided by the employer is of greatest importance to risk management practices in construction companies. It was found out that failure to provide the capacity to prevent losses in operation. It was found out that the greatest strategy towards putting risk management practices in the company is consistency in following regulations to reduce risks of accidents on workers. It was concluded that enabling employees to enjoy a safe working environment with the health examination provided by the employer is of the greatest importance to risk management practices in construction companies. It was also concluded that failure to provide the capacity to prevent losses in operation is one of the challenges limiting putting into place risk management practices in construction companies. It was concluded that the greatest strategy towards putting risk management practices in the company is consistency in following regulations to reduce risks of accidents on workers. It was recommended that Roko Construction Company should emphasize the establishment of laws and regulations which can reduce all risk occurrences in the company. The Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development should put up standards of risk management in every construction company. Management in construction companies should emphasize and monitor the implementation of risk management practices among company employees.
