Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the correlation between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kampala and their awareness, attitudes, and utilization of Internet banking. The objectives of the study were to investigate the correlation between awareness and Internet banking adoption, the association between attitude and Internet banking, and the cumulative effect of awareness and attitude on Internet banking adoption. The study employed both a quantitative methodology and a cross-sectional research design. The response rate was 75.26%, with 289 out of 384 respondents participating in the sample size. The questionnaire was evaluated to assess its validity and reliability. In accordance with the study's aims, SPSS v23 was employed for data analysis. The findings indicated a robust and affirmative correlation between attitude and acceptance of online banking, as well as a significant and positive association between knowledge and acceptance of online banking. The combination of awareness and attitude characteristics accounts for 63.7% of the variance in Internet banking adoption. The findings indicated that attitude, as opposed to awareness, serves as a more dependable predictor of small and medium sized enterprises' (SMEs') acceptance of Internet banking. The poll indicates that to achieve a high degree of international business (IB) adoption, managers of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kampala should foster positive views toward IB among their employees. This can be achieved by enhancing the emotional and mental conduct of employees while they perform their routine duties. Given that the model's predictors explain 63.7% of the variation, additional research employing alternative methodologies may be undertaken to elucidate the remaining 36.3% of the variation in the use of Internet banking by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kampala.
