dc.description.abstractThe topic of the study was “Effective adoption of energy saving cooking technology in refugee settlements: A case of Bidibidi refugee settlement in Yumbe district, Uganda”. The objectives of the study were to examine the relationship between attitude, socio-economic factors and Perceived behavioral control and effective adoption of energy savings cooking stoves and to find out the mediation effect of intention on the relationship between Attitute, socio-economic factors, perceived behavioral control and effective adoption of energy saving cooking stoves. The study used quantitative research method using cross sectional design, the population of the study was refugee households of Bidibidi refugee settlement, a sample of 350 households participated in the study. Stratified simple random sampling technique was used to select the households. Structured questionnaires with relative responses was used for data collection, SPSS software was used for data entry and running correlation, regression and mediation analysis. The dissertation was drafted in five chapters of which analysis, presentation, and interpretation of findings are in chapter four whereas the discussion, conclusions and recommendations were detailed in chapter five. The dissertation is made in 5 copies of which four copies will be submitted to the University while one copy will be submitted to OPM office so that key recommendations of the findings can be spearheaded by OPM and be rolled in the settlement to reduce the impact of over dependence on wood fuel and increase effective adoption of energy saving cooking technology in refugee settlements in Uganda. The study will also act as reference for future scholars wishing to do similar studies.
