Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of football league management of the Uganda Premier league. It specifically reviewed the management gap and problems facing football league management in Uganda as compared to those in developed nations like England and centred on finding a solution to its management discrepancy and gap. The study was carried out at FUFA house in Mengo, Kampala which is the headquarters of FUFA which manages the Uganda Premier league. The study objectives were to examine the effectiveness of football league management of the Uganda Premier League, to determine the challenges of football league management of the Uganda Premier League and to establish the strategies to improve football league management of the Uganda Premier league. Empirical data was collected from staff at FUFA departments and officials and the study had a sample size of 80 respondents selected using stratified random sampling and purposive sampling. The data was statistically analysed and interpreted using Pearson’s linear correlation method in SPSS. The key findings of the indicated that progress in management was being made but there were still big leaps to be made to achieve desired results. From the study, it was recommended that Football league management should be more adequately financed more coordinated and to have a united board. Further research was recommended and a similar study was suggested in other leagues managed by FUFA like the Big League and First division as well as a totally qualitative study conducted on effectiveness of football league management to gather the respondents’ opinions on the variables.
