Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between innovation capability, supply chain network capability, and humanitarian supply chain performance among organizations operating in Kampala and Wakiso Districts. A quantitative cross-sectional survey design was employed, targeting 320 humanitarian organizations, of which 175 provided usable responses. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression techniques to test the study hypotheses. The findings revealed that both innovation capability and supply chain network capability are positively and significantly associated with humanitarian supply chain performance. Regression results indicated that these two capabilities jointly explained 38.2% of the variance in performance outcomes, with innovation capability contributing to adaptability and responsiveness, while network capability enhanced coordination and resource flow. The study contributes to humanitarian supply chain literature by providing empirical evidence from a resource-constrained context, highlighting the strategic importance of internal innovation and relational network capabilities in improving preparedness, response, and recovery performance. Practically, the results underscore the need for humanitarian organizations in Uganda to invest in innovative practices and strengthen collaborative networks to enhance operational effectiveness and resilience during crises.
