dc.description.abstractThis study examined the relationship between social networks, individual capabilities and financial inclusion of small holder farmers in Kabale district. The study employed a cross sectional research design where data was collected at a specific point in time. Primary data was collected from the small holder farmers using a questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed using the correlation and regression statistical techniques The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between social networks and financial inclusion among small holder farmers in Kabale district. Further, the results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between individual capabilities and financial inclusion among small holder farmers in Kabale district. It was also established that a combination of social networks and individual capabilities contribute 43% of changes in financial inclusion of the small holder farmers. The study recommends that the small holder farmers should be encouraged to form social networks especially through joining formal associations where they will be able to make ties with people that could help them access financial information and also those that could be guarantors in financial institution such that they can use financial services comfortably. It is important for financial services to provide regular training and out reaches to small holder farmers to equip them with the necessary financial knowledge such that their attitude towards financial services can be improved as this will enhance financial inclusion.
