| dc.description.abstract | This study sought to examine the relationship between planning, communication, training and development, and the reward system and perceived managed performance in selected logistics companies in Kampala. It was motivated by a persistent problem of adherence to performance management practices in logistics companies. The study is based on a cross-sectional survey design that employed a quantitative approach whereby a sample size of 210 respondents was used, 158 from Bollore Africa Logistics and 52 from Aramex, the informants being purposely selected. We used both correlation and regression analysis to answer the research questions. It was found that planning, communication, training and development, reward system, and perceived managed performance are positively and significantly related. Additionally, the independent variables explain 18.9 % of the variance in Perceived Managed Performance (Adjusted R Square = .189), and planning and reward systems are better predictors of perceived managed performance. The regression model was noted to be significant (sig. <.01). We recommend that Aramex and Bollore Logistics Company Limited emphasize planning as well as rewarding the worker based on output. The resources dedicated to these activities should be reviewed and scaled up. | |
