Abstract
This study was aimed at examining the relationship between e-procurement and risk Management practices and procurement performance of food and beverage manufacturing Firms in the Kampala Metropolitan Area. The study was initiated because of the continued poor Procurement performance of food and beverage manufacturing firms, despite the numerous Efforts to improve their performance. The study objectives were: to assess the relationship Between e-procurement and procurement performance of food and beverage firms in the Kampala Metropolitan Area, to analyse the relationship between risk management and Procurement performance of food and beverage firms in the Kampala Metropolitan Area, to Determine the relationship between e-procurement and the risk management of food and beverage Firms in the Kampala Metropolitan Area, and to examine the mediation effect of risk
Management in the relationship between e-procurement and the procurement performance of food and beverage firms in the Kampala Metropolitan Area. The study adopted a quantitative and cross-sectional research design. The study population included 229 beverage manufacturing firms, from which 172 firms were randomly selected. Primary data was obtained using a structured questionnaire. Results show that there is a Positive and significant relationship between e-procurement and procurement performance (r = .739*, p<.01), risk management and procurement performance (r = .820*, p<.01), e- Procurement and risk management (r = .797*, p<.01). The study further reveals that risk Management (β =0.631, p<.01) and e-procurement (β =0.238, p<.01) are significant predictors
Of procurement performance in food and beverage manufacturing firms. More to that, 68.9 per Cent of the variance in procurement performance of the firms in question can be explained by E-procurement and risk management practices. It was recommended that food and beverage
Firms in the Kampala Metropolitan Area should integrate e-procurement and supply chain Management, strengthen supplier collaboration via e-procurement platforms, implement tailored risk management strategies to address unique industry challenges, and incorporate risk Management as a core component of e-procurement strategies for improved performance, while concurrently investing in training and capacity building to ensure effective use of e- Procurement tools and adaptability to technological changes.
