| dc.description.abstract | Village Revolving Fund (VRF) has become an important livelihood strategy in Uganda’s refugee-hosting communities, offering households a platform for savings, credit access, and income stabilization. This study assessed the sustainability of VRF by examining how group capacity building, group leadership, and entrepreneurial mindset collectively influence its long-term performance. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design and employed quantitative methods using structured questionnaires. A sample of 110 VRF groups was analyzed using SPSS version 25.0. The results indicated that the overall model was significant (F (3, 103) = 136.666, p < .001), explaining 78.9% of the observed variance in VRF sustainability (R² = .789). Further analysis revealed that group capacity building (t = 3.424, p < .05) and group leadership (t = 10.986, p < .05) had the greatest positive effects on VRF sustainability, while entrepreneurial mindset was not a significant predictor (t = .475, p > .05). Interpreted through the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework, the results show that investment in human and social capital especially skills training and effective governance substantially strengthens VRF operations, whereas entrepreneurial traits alone are insufficient for sustainability. The study concludes that VRF sustainability depends primarily on continuous capacity development and strong leadership structures, and recommends that implementing agencies prioritize structured training, transparent governance models to enhance long-term group viability. | |
