dc.description.abstractThe main purpose of the study was to assess the state, challenges, and strategies for improving Corporate Social Responsibility at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited. To conduct this study, the researcher employed a case study design along with a qualitative research approach. The research study considered Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited as the case out of the 26 commercial Banks in Uganda. The unit of analysis was Stanbic Bank, and the unit of inquiry was the managers at the different levels of the organization. The researcher collected primary data using an interview guide. Good practices of ethical behavior during research studies were respected and these included voluntary participation, anonymity of the respondents and respect for scholarly works which ruled Plagiarism. The data was analyzed using content analyze to identify emerging themes. The key findings of the study in revealed the following. The Corporate Social Responsibility activities at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited were premised on the economic, environmental and community dimensions. The state of Corporate Social Responsibility revealed that Stanbic bank had outstanding policies, and expenditure institutionalization of Corporate Social Responsibility activities. Additionally, there exist challenges, mainly in communication, lack of additional funding, misuse of resources, and low levels of employee engagement and involvement in Corporate Social Responsibility activities. Several strategies were suggested including the improvement in communication, decentralization, and establishment of a Corporate Social Responsibility strategic plan among others. This study recommends the adoption of a strategic plan, stakeholder engagement strategies and extensive needs assessment. In the areas of further, the study recommends futures research to be done on using a longitudinal research design to track the success of Corporate Social responsibility in Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited overtime.
