dc.description.abstractThis study examined the relationship between stakeholder involvement, circular economy practices, and procurement performance among Procuring and Disposing Entities (PDEs) in Uganda. The study was motivated by the need to improve procurement performance in public entities through sustainable procurement approaches and greater stakeholder participation. Specifically, the study sought to examine the relationship between stakeholder involvement and procurement performance, assess the relationship between circular economy practices and procurement performance, and determine the combined effect of stakeholder involvement and circular economy practices on procurement performance. A quantitative cross-sectional survey research design was adopted. Data were collected using structured questionnaires from 141 Procuring and Disposing Entities selected from a target sample of 150 entities based on the Krejcie and Morgan (1970) sampling framework, representing a response rate of 94.0%. The data were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), employing descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and regression analyses. The findings revealed that both stakeholder involvement and circular economy practices have positive and significant relationships with procurement performance. Stakeholder involvement emerged as the stronger predictor of procurement performance compared to circular economy practices. Regression analysis further indicated that the two variables jointly explained 26.3% of the variation in procurement performance among the surveyed entities. The study concludes that effective stakeholder involvement and the adoption of circular economy practices are essential for enhancing procurement performance in Uganda's public sector. It recommends that Procuring and Disposing Entities institutionalize inclusive stakeholder participation throughout the procurement cycle, strengthen the adoption of circular procurement practices, and develop policies that promote sustainable resource utilization to improve procurement efficiency, transparency, and long-term value for money.
