(Makerere University Business School, 2023) Lumanyika, Nicholas
The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between social networking, stakeholder commitment and project sustainability of youth livelihood projects in Mbarara City, and the combined effect of social networking and stakeholder commitment on project sustainability of youth livelihood projects in Mbarara City. Using a cross-sectional research design, a sample of 48 was used out of 49 selected youth livelihood projects in Mbarara City. Data was obtained from the chairperson, secretary and treasurer from each project using a self-administered questionnaire. Validity was determined using expert judgment and Content Validity Index (CVI) and reliability through pretesting and Cronbach Alpha Coefficient. Only 48 projects participated in this study because one of the project’s leadership became inaccessible after giving them the questionnaire. Data was analyzed using SPSS, v. 26 and interpreted using descriptive and inferential statistics and the results were presented based on the study objectives. It was established from the study that there was a significant positive relationship between social networking and project sustainability of youth livelihood projects, a significant positive relationship between stakeholder commitment and project sustainability of youth livelihood projects, a twenty seven percent of variation in project sustainability of youth livelihood projects in Mbarara City is caused by combined effect of social networking and stakeholder commitment. It is therefore recommended that there is need to create a strong social network, effective stakeholder commitment, and a sense of belonging among project members to contribute to the long-term success and impact of youth livelihood projects.
