Abstract
This study was purposed to investigate the relationship between plan implementation, employee commitment and organizational performance.
A cross-sectional quantitative design was used. The researcher issued 132 questionnaires and received 108 questionnaires giving a response rate of 81.8%. The reliability of the tools showed that all variables under study were reliable with Cronbach’s alpha statistic for all of the variables was above 0.70-threshold value suggested by annually, (1978).
The findings of the correlation analysis showed a significant positive relationship between plan implementation and organizational performance (r= 0.585, p<0.01). It also indicated significant positive relationship between employee commitment and organizational performance (r = 0.537, p<0.01) implying that a positive increase in plan implementation and employee commitment are associated directly with a positive improvement in organizational performance of NGOs in Obongi district. The regression analysis showed that plan implementation and employee commitment had a significant positive influence on organizational performance (β = 0.425 and β = .334, P<0.01).
The researcher recommends that; Management of NGOs need to initiate a policy of providing opportunities for leadership development for its staff. This will help them to engage closely and creatively with activities that will improve the performance of the organization. Management of NGOs also need to provide strict accountability measures for its staff so that all resource allocation decisions are thoroughly vetted, and that there is monitoring system for all allocations. This would also ensure that all resource allocation decisions serve the best interest of the organization. The management of NGOs should establish a cohesive relationship with the employee so that employees should see themselves as an integral part of the organization as this will lead to superior performance that will lead to profitability. The Management of NGOs should try to reduce employee’s turnover by creating favorable working conditions in term of good salary, good treatment, job security, and enough attention from the managers.
