The study explored how smart technology adoption and stakeholder engagement influence the intention to preserve cultural heritage in Kampala. Using a cross-sectional design and quantitative methods, data from 209 tourism enterprise employees including tour consultant, safari guides, ICT officers and reservation managers in Kampala showed that both smart technology adoption and stakeholder engagement have significant positive effects on cultural heritage preservation. Stakeholder engagement also partially mediates the relationship between technology adoption and intention to preserve cultural heritage. The two variables together explained the variance and is important because it partly explains the inconsistence in the literature about the relationship between smart technology adoption and intention to preserve cultural heritage. The study recommends enhancing stakeholder engagement and building digital skills to support preservation efforts, while future research should investigate additional influencing factors.
