| dc.description.abstract | The study examine the relationship between empowerment, market access, and individual welfare at Entanda Cultural Adventure in Mityana district. A cross-sectional design was employed. Using a sample of 134 was selected to participate in the study yielding a 95.7% response rate. Reliability testing and analyses using SPSS, including correlational, regression, and mediation analyses, were conducted. Quantitative data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using appropriate statistical techniques. Results were presented in the form of tables, figures, and percentages. A Likert scale was employed to measure key variables. The study found that provision of empowerment has an effect on individuals’ welfare, there is a significant contribution of provision of empowerment towards individual welfare (r = .610, p<0.01), suggesting that increased empowerment particularly in social and environmental domains, improves well-being. A positive, albeit weaker, relationship was observed between market access and welfare (r = 0.21, p<0.05). Further, empowerment and market access exhibited a significant association regarding individual welfare (r = 0.269, p < 0.05), highlighting empowerment's role in leveraging market opportunities. Mediation analysis, however, revealed that market access did not mediate the empowerment-welfare link; instead, empowerment demonstrated a direct and stronger influence (β = .597, p < 0.01). This suggests that empowerment is a primary driver of individual welfare in community-based tourism contexts, independent of market access. While this study relied on quantitative data, potentially overlooking nuances of respondent experience, it offers valuable insights into the factors affecting welfare at Entanda. Further research is recommended, incorporating qualitative methods or mixed-methods approaches, to explore the complexities of the relationships among empowerment, market access, and individual welfare at Entanda Cultural Adventure. Additionally, future studies should investigate other potential determinants of welfare within this specific context. A key recommendation is that Entanda Cultural Adventure to prioritize empowerment initiatives to improve market access through strategic partnerships and ongoing evaluation. | |
