| dc.description.abstract | In the construction sector, high rates for occurrence of scope creep encountered by construction projects have been an issue of concern from policy makers and academic scholars alike. Global statistics indicate that by the time most projects are completed, the actual cost exceeds the original contract price by about 40% or more. Ugandan construction projects have not been spared either with cases of scope creep occurrence are wide spread especially among public construction projects. This study therefore sought to examine scope creep management within the Ministry of Water and Environment Headquarters’ construction project. Specifically, the study intended to analyze causes of scope creep, examine the features of scope creep and suggest ways to manage scope creep in the Ministry of Water and Environment. The study applied a cross sectional research design with a sample size of 127 respondents and quantitative research approach was employed. Descriptive statistics using mean and standard deviation techniques were obtained with the help of SPSS (v20). Validity and reliability of the data collection instrument were both tested using content validity index and Cronbach’s α coefficient ensuring that all variables had α coefficients of 0.70 or more. In addition, expert judgment was obtained and statements that were not clear were modified to minimize ambiguity and inconsistencies. | |
