dc.description.abstractThe purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between cultural sites heritage, community involvement and income generation in the Nyero Community, Kumi District in Uganda. This was guided by the following objectives: to examine the relationship between cultural sites heritage and income generation, to establish the relationship between local community involvement and income generation and to investigate the relationship between cultural sites heritage, community involvement and income generation. In this study, a cross-sectional and quantitative research design was used. The population consisted of 10,168 households, representing all households within Nyero sub-county in Kumi district. The sample size for the research study was determined to be 385 households, employing the Morgan & Krejcie (1970) formula. Simple random sampling technique was employed to select the households from the population. Data collection involved the use of a questionnaire tailored to the research variables. The collected data was analysed quantitatively using the SPSS. Furthermore, reliability and validity of the research tool were addressed in this study. The analysis of the study's findings reveals a statistically significant positive correlation between cultural sites heritage and income generation. Similarly, a positive and significant correlation between community involvement and income generation was found. Additionally, the relationship between cultural sites heritage, community involvement, and income generation was found to be positive and significant. In conclusion, these findings highlight the importance of the positive and significant relationship between cultural sites heritage, community involvement, and income generation. As a key recommendation, stakeholders, including local government bodies and destination managers, should prioritize the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage sites within rural tourism destinations like Nyero Rock.
