    Supplier Relationship Management, Procurement Staff Competency and Procurement Performance.

    This study intended to investigate the relationship between supplier relationship management, procurement staff competency and procurement performance among PDEs in Eastern Uganda specifically focusing on district local government, municipalities, town councils, tertiary institution and government schools. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was used from a population of 54 PDEs using a sample size of 48 PDEs. Accordingly, data was collected using self-administered questionnaires that were hand-delivered to the respondents. Overall, filled questionnaires were received from 40 PDEs representing a response rate of 83.3% was attained for analysis. The analysis of data involved correlation and regression analysis for answering the research questions in accordance with the study objectives and hypotheses. The results revealed that both supplier relationship management and procurement staff competency significantly predicted procurement performance. Further, the findings revealed that supplier relationship management and procurement staff competency account for 43.3% of the variance in procurement performance. Based on the study findings, recommendations were advanced regarding the need to strengthen supplier relationship management and procurement staff competency as a way of enhancing procurement performance in PDEs in Eastern Uganda.
