    Agricultural Commercialization, Institutional Characteristics, Farm Characteristics, and Welfare of Farmers in Uganda.

    This study examined the impact of agricultural commercialization on the welfare of farmers in Kiboga District, Uganda, with a focus on the following specific objectives; to examine the effect of agricultural commercialization on welfare of farmers in Uganda. to examine the effect of institutional characteristics on welfare of farmers in Uganda, to examine the effect of Farm characteristics on welfare of farmers in Uganda, to examine the moderation effect of farm characteristics on the relationship between agricultural commercialization and the welfare of farmers in Uganda and also examine the moderation effect of institutional characteristics on the relationship between agricultural commercialization and the welfare of famers in Uganda. Using quantitative approaches, data was collected and questionnaires targeting smallholder farmers. The study analyzed the relationships between agricultural commercialization, institutional factors such as credit access and cooperative membership, and farm characteristics like size and productivity. Results revealed that agricultural commercialization significantly enhances farmers' welfare by increasing income and access to essential services, with institutional and farm characteristics playing a crucial role in moderating these effects. Recommendations for policy improvements suggested were: to emphasize strengthening institutional support, promoting technological adoption, and enhancing market access to optimize the benefits of agricultural commercialization.
