    Sustainable Procurement Practices and Supply Chain Performance of Manufacturing Industries in Mbarara City.

    This study examined the relationship between procurement capabilities, organizational culture, stakeholder involvement, and procurement agility among food processing firms in Kampala, Uganda. The study was motivated by the persistent procurement challenges faced by food processing firms, including slow responsiveness to changes in the procurement environment, inflexible procurement processes, and limited adaptability, which negatively affect organizational competitiveness and performance. Specifically, the study sought to examine the relationship between procurement capabilities and stakeholder involvement, organizational culture and stakeholder involvement, stakeholder involvement and procurement agility, procurement capabilities and procurement agility, and organizational culture and procurement agility. A quantitative cross-sectional survey research design was adopted. Primary data were collected using structured questionnaires administered to 103 randomly selected food processing firms in Kampala. Data were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), employing descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analyses. The findings revealed that procurement capabilities, organizational culture, and stakeholder involvement each have positive and statistically significant relationships with procurement agility. Procurement capabilities and organizational culture were also found to significantly influence stakeholder involvement, while stakeholder involvement significantly enhanced procurement agility. Regression analysis further established that procurement capabilities, organizational culture, and stakeholder involvement jointly predict procurement agility, with all three variables emerging as significant predictors. The study concludes that strengthening procurement capabilities, cultivating a supportive organizational culture, and promoting active stakeholder involvement are essential for enhancing procurement agility among food processing firms. It recommends that managers invest in procurement capacity development, foster organizational values that encourage flexibility, innovation, and collaboration, and institutionalize stakeholder participation through effective communication, consultation, and joint decision-making. These measures will enable food processing firms to respond more rapidly and effectively to changing procurement environments and improve their overall competitiveness and operational performance.
