- ItemContract Management, Staff Competence and Contract Performance in Uganda National Roads Authority.(Makerere University Business School, 2021-12-06) Natamba, JustineThe study sought to examine the relationship between contract management, staff competence and contract performance of Uganda National Roads Authority. It was guided by objectives which included, examining the relationship between contract management and contract performance, to establish the relationship between contract management and staff competence, to examine the relationship between staff competence and contract performance and to establish the relationship between contract management, staff competence and contract performance. A cross-sectional research design was used on a sample of 109 respondents. Data were analyzed using quantitative methods and descriptive statistics and inferential analyses that were correlation and regression. Descriptive results revealed that contract performance and contract management were good, and staff competences high. Regression analysis revealed that contract management and staff competences were positive and significant predictors of contracts performance. Therefore, it was concluded that contracts management is important for contract performance, staff competences are essential for contract management in organizations, staff competences are imperative for contract performance. More especially contract performance is influenced by staff knowledge and skills, and contract management and staff competences combined are vital for contract performance in organizations. It was thus recommended that directors or managers of organizations should ensure effective contracts management, enhance staff competences, staff competences, and jointly effectively implement contract management and enhance staff competences.
