    Participatory Budgeting, Goal Commitment and Perceived Performance of Non-Government Organisations in Mbale District.

    The study aimed at establishing the relationship between participatory budgeting, goal commitment, and perceived performance of NGOs in Mbale District. The specific objectives included establishing the relationship between participatory budgeting and perceived performance of NGOs, establishing the relationship between participatory budgeting and goal commitment of NGOs, and establishing the relationship between goal commitment and perceived performance of NGOs and the study followed a cross-sectional survey design, where the quantitative approach was used. The study population included finance officers and program officers, equivalent to eighty-eight (88) participants. These were purposively selected for the study. Questionnaires were used to collect primary data. Quantitative data analysis was used. Findings revealed that H1a, H1b, and H1c are accepted concerning participatory budgeting, goal commitment, and perceived performance of NGOs. That is H1a (There is a significant and positive relationship between participatory budgeting and perceived performance of NGOs as shown by the correlation coefficient and H1b (There is a significant and positive relationship between participatory budgeting and goal commitment of NGOs and H1c (There is a significant and positive relationship between goal commitment and perceived performance of NGOs all accepted. The study recommends NGOs should have clear goals well communicated to the stakeholders. This is because when employees have timely and adequate information, they get committed to the goal and hence high level of performance; and areas of further research were suggested.
