    (2023) Naggayi, Kulthum Kuchu
The main purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between Employee safety attitudes, Employee proficiency and Safety Policy Effectiveness of Uganda Breweries Limited. The research problem was that safety policy effectiveness for UBL’s case is wanting and the company has a history of accidents and with the is averaging to an all-time high 94 accidents annually, which will get worse if the situation is not urgently addressed. The objectives therefore were: to examine the relationship between Employee safety attitudes and Safety Policy Effectiveness among employees of Uganda Breweries Limited, to examine the relationship between Employee proficiency and Safety Policy Effectiveness among employees of Uganda Breweries Limited, to examine the relationship between Employee safety attitudes and Employee proficiency among employees of Uganda Breweries Limited and to examine the mediating role of the employee proficiency in the relationship between Employee safety attitudes and Safety Policy Effectiveness among employees of Uganda Breweries Limited. A sample of 148 was selected from the population of 241 staff. Simple random sampling was applied to identify respondents. A questionnaire was used to collect data. The results show that there is a significant and positive relationship between Employee safety attitudes and Safety Policy Effectiveness among employees of Uganda Breweries Limited (r =.713, p<.01), there is a significant and positive relationship between Employee proficiency and Safety Policy Effectiveness (r =.711, p<.01), there is a significant and positive relationship between Employee safety attitudes and Employee proficiency among employees of Uganda Breweries Limited (r =.784, p<.01) and that the two independent variables in combination predict 55.8 percent of the variance in safety policy effectiveness (Adjusted R Square = 558). It was also found that employee proficiency significantly though partially mediates in the relationship between Employee safety attitudes and Safety Policy Effectiveness among employees of Uganda Breweries Limited. Based on the findings, it is recommended that Uganda Breweries Limited should continually invest in programs aimed at fostering positive safety attitudes among its employees, they should consider implementing a participatory safety management approach, continuously invest in comprehensive training programs that enhance employee proficiency. UBL should adopt a proactive approach towards identifying and addressing potential skill gaps among employees and they should establish mechanisms for regular feedback and dialogue concerning safety procedures and regulations.
