    Business Records Management, Decision Quality and Small Enterprise Growth under Kampala Capital City Authority.

    The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between business records management, decision quality and small enterprise growth under Kampala Capital City Authority, as well as the mediating role of decision quality in the relationship between business records management and small enterprise growth. This study was guided by the following research objectives; including the relationship between business records management, decision quality and the growth of small enterprises as well as the mediating role of decision quality in the relationship between business records management and small enterprise growth. The study was guided by the theory of the Growth of the Firm. Business records management was conceptualized as the independent variable, decision quality being the mediating variable while small enterprise growth was the dependent variable. The study adopted a cross sectional design using a quantitative approach. The study population was 46546 and a sample of 381 small businesses represented by their owners obtained using. Purposive and convenience sampling methods. Questionnaires were used for data collection. The reliability and validity scores were as follows respectively; Business records management (0.75;.895), Decision Quality (0.80,.815); small Enterprise Growth (0.85; .817). SPSS version 21 was used for data analysis. Results revealed a positive, significant and strong relationship between business records management and decision quality (r=.684**); a positive, significant and strong relationship between decision quality and the small enterprise growth (r=.822**). Decision quality is a significant predictor of small enterprise growth (Beta=0.526); a positive, significant and strong relationship between records management and the growth of small enterprises (r=.792), business records management is a significant predictor of small enterprise growth (Beta=0.433). Records management and decision quality predict 77.2% of the variance in small enterprise growth. The effect of records management on small enterprise growth is partly direct (54.6%) and partly (45.4%) indirect as a result of the influence of Decision Quality, confirming decision quality as significantly mediating the relationship between records management and small enterprise growth. The study concludes that both records management and decision quality are predictors of small enterprise growth with records management being a significant predictor of small enterprise growth. The study recommends considering avenues for enhancing records management and decision quality. Further studies can be done on determinants of the methods of records management adopted by small scale enterprises in Uganda; Entrepreneurial competences in information management and small enterprise growth potentials in Kampala; and exploring decision making dynamics amongst small scale businesses in Kampala.
