    Procurement Capabilities, Organizational Culture, Stakeholder Involvement and Procurement Agility in Food Processing Firms in Uganda: A Case of Food Processing Firms in Kampala.

    The study sought to establish the relationship between procurement capability, organizational culture, stakeholder involvement and procurement agility. The research problem was that food processing firms in Uganda face different challenges in their procurement function. They are slow at responding to changes in the procurement environment. This result from lack of swiftness, quickness, proactiveness and adaptability. There is also inflexibility within procurement process especially when following the hierarchy which causes delays. These challenges maybe attributed to lack of procurement capabilities, poor organizational culture and failure to involve stakeholders in the procurement process. Hence the objectives were: to examine the relationship between procurement capability and stakeholder involvement of food processing firms in Uganda, to examine the relationship between organizational culture and stakeholder involvement of food processing firms in Uganda, to establish the relationship between stakeholder involvement and agile procurement of food processing firms in Uganda, to examine the relationship between procurement capability and procurement agility in food processing firms in Uganda, and to examine the relationship between organizational culture and agile procurement in food processing firms in Uganda. The research used a cross-sectional quantitative survey design. The sample size comprised of 103 food processing firms selected by a simple random sampling method. A questionnaire survey was done to collect primary data. Results show that procurement capabilities are significantly related to stakeholder involvement, organizational culture is significantly related to stakeholder involvement, stakeholder involvement is significantly related to procurement agility, procurement capability is significantly related to procurement agility, and that organizational culture is significantly related to procurement agility. Regression results also show that procurement capabilities, organizational culture and stakeholder involvement together predict the variance in procurement agility in food processing firms. The results in the model further show that procurement capabilities, organizational culture and stakeholder involvement are significant predictors of procurement agility. Therefore, on basis of these findings it was recommended that food processing firms need to embark on a process to boost procurement agility, involve stakeholders through enhancing communication, consultation and participation, as well as strengthening organizational culture through cultivating uniform norms, beliefs and values among them to align their interests.
