    Post-Covid19 Use of Online Learning. A Case of Secondary Schools in Wakiso District

    The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, behavioral intention and use of online learning by secondary schools in Wakiso district. This study utilized a cross sectional survey study design. The study was carried out among secondary schools within Wakiso district. The unit of inquiry was head teachers of registered secondary schools. The sample size was 241 head teachers of registered secondary schools in Wakiso district. The study employed Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS). The results indicate that performance expectancy, Effort expectancy and social influence cause a significant variation in behavioral intention of students. Also Facilitating conditions and Behavioral intention cause a significant variation in adoption of online learning. Performance expectancy is the most influential factor driving behavioral intention, social influence showed the minimum influence towards behavioral intention. The study recommends for Performance Expectancy Enhancement Schools should actively promote the benefits and advantages of online learning to educators, students, and stakeholders, highlighting success stories, improved learning outcomes, and flexible access to resources can enhance performance expectancy. Streamline Effort Expectancy into Action: While ease of use is crucial in influencing intentions, schools should work to ensure that the ease of use translates into actual adoption. This can be achieved by offering user-friendly platforms, comprehensive training, and ongoing technical support. Foster a Supportive Social Environment: While social influence plays a role in shaping intentions, schools should actively cultivate a collaborative and supportive environment. Encouraging educators to share their positive experiences with online learning and creating platforms for knowledge exchange can amplify the influence of peers in encouraging adoption. Prioritize Facilitating Conditions: Schools must invest in providing the necessary resources, technical infrastructure, and training required for successful online learning implementation. Bridge the Gap between Intention and Action: Recognizing the moderate relationship between behavioral intention and actual use, schools should address any gaps that arise during the transition and lastly the study recommends Utilizing the Mediating Role of behavioral Intention: Schools can leverage the mediating effect of behavioral intention to reinforce the links between influencing factors and actual adoption. By actively addressing and supporting behavioral intention, particularly in the context of performance expectancy and social influence, schools can strengthen the connection between intentions and actions. The study had several limitations. First, Sampling Bias: The study's findings were based on a specific geographic region (Wakiso District) and may not be representative of broader educational contexts. Limited Timeframe: The study was conducted within a specific timeframe, which impacted the validity and relevance of the findings over time. Cross-Cultural Variations: The study may not account for potential cross-cultural differences that could impact attitudes and behaviors towards online learning and lastly Mediation Analysis Complexities: The study identifies behavioral intention as a mediator but does not delve deeply into the complexities of the mediation relationships. Areas for further research include Long-Term Impact and Sustainability, Explore the perceptions and experiences of students regarding online learning Examine the effectiveness of teacher training and ongoing support programs for online learning, Explore the potential benefits and challenges of hybrid learning models that combine online and in-person instruction and assessing the technological infrastructure and readiness of secondary schools in Wakiso district for sustained online learning.
