    Social Capital, Disaster Preparedness and Perceived Community Resilience among Cattle Keepers in Ntoroko District.

    The study aimed at examining the relationship between social capital, disaster preparedness, and community resilience among cattle keepers in Ntoroko District. The study was specifically guided by the following objectives; to examine the relationship between Social Capital and Community Resilience, to explore the relationship between Social Capital and Disaster Preparedness, to determine the nature of the relationship between Disaster Preparedness and Community Resilience, and to determine the mediating effect of Disaster Preparedness in the Relationship between Social Capital and Community Resilience. The study was guided by the structural functionalism theory, and the study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design guided by quantitative data collection approaches. The study sampled 196 cattle keepers however, it involved only 191 respondents who completely filled the questionnaire, and this represented 98% response rate which was good and acceptable for subsequent analysis. The study revealed a positive relationship between social capital and community resilience, a positive and statistically significant relationship between social capital and disaster preparedness, a positive significant relationship between disaster preparedness and community resilience. the study revealed that social capital and disaster preparedness can explain variations in community resilience by 42.7% indicating the presence of other factors that explain 57.3% of various in communication resilience which cause for further research. This study was found to be in line with other studies especially on the relationship between disaster preparedness and community resilience and as well the relationship between social capital and community resilience. The researcher recommends to policy makers to come up with better strategies to increase social capital and disaster preparedness so as to increase community resilience.
