    Accounts Receivable Premium Management Practices at Nic General Insurance Company Limited.

    This study examined accounts receivable premium management practices at NIC general insurance company limited. The objectives of this study were to examine the receivable management practices at NIC general insurance company limited, to examine the challenges of receivable management practices at NIC general insurance company limited and to propose the solutions to the challenges of Accounts receivables management practices at NIC general insurance company limited. The study adopted a cross sectional research design where data was collected at one point in time from a population of 95 respondents. This data was collected using a questionnaire which was tested for validity and reliability. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The results showed that that the company applies stringent credit policy, has debtor’s ledgers and control accounts, the customers are also left customer alone to decide when to pay and that the company computes for the average collection period. The challenges highlighted were that some conversations on credit normally go undocumented, there are also delays due to internal communication and that the billing procedures are inconsistent and that there are inadequate verification procedures for customers. It was therefore recommended that it is important for the company to Create a dispute resolution procedure to quickly address clients' concerns, make sure that all payment terms are spelled out in a legal agreement the company representatives need to ensure a mutual understanding and acceptance of payment terms before commencing work and that there is need to document all non-written conversations.
