The study examined the relationship between business process redesign, financial resilience and business performance of commercial banks in Kampala. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design along with a quantitative research approach. In this study, the researcher distributed 96 questionnaires of which only 90 questionnaires were returned representing a response rate of 93.7%. Data was aggregated to the unit of analysis and then analysed using multiple regression, correlation and mediation analyses to answer the stated study objectives. Study findings revealed a positive relationship between business processes redesign and business performance, business processes redesign, financial resilience and business performance. Regression findings revealed that business processes redesign and financial resilience predicated up to 40.3% (adjusted R square = 0.403) of the observed variance in business performance. Findings revealed that financial resilience plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between business process redesign and business performance of commercial banks. It was further observed that commercial banks that believe that innovative rethinking strengthens employees’ ability to perform tasks in an efficient manner through knowledge sharing will increase employee loyalty, improve public image, attract many customers and increase market share. It was recommended that commercial banks need to emphasize and foster a culture of continuous improvement in their operations. Commercial banks should develop and implement a comprehensive financial resilience framework.
