    Geographical Traits and Supply Chain Agility: A Case of Third-Party Logistics Providers (3pls) in Uganda.

    The study intended to examine the relationship between geographical traits and supply chain agility of 3PLs in Uganda. Specifically, the relationships between infrastructure framework, regulatory framework, national culture, organizational culture and supply chain agility of 3PLs were examined. The study was motivated by deficient logistics services in 3PLs which has resulted into loss of previous and potential customers coupled with the failure to maintain new customers. A cross-sectional research design was adopted with a sample size of 178 3PLs firms. The reliability and validity of the instrument were established using Cronbach Alpha coefficient and content validity index respectively. Data were analyzed using SPSS with a focus on descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. The Pearson correlation coefficient results revealed a positive and significant relationship between all study variables i.e. infrastructure framework, regulatory framework, national culture, organizational culture and supply chain agility. The regression analysis findings further revealed that all study variables collectively predicted supply chain agility in 3PLs by 28.1%. Further, based on beta coefficient, infrastructural and national culture were non-significant predictor of supply chain agility with (β = 0.145) and (β=0.122) respectively. A conclusion was drawn that infrastructural framework, regulatory framework, national culture and organizational culture can influence supply chain agility through a positive significant relationship, but also other factors due to the remaining percentage in predicting power. Recommendations were proposed including organizations following rules and policies guiding third party logistics companies’ operations, abiding by national regulations to obtain trade finances, being flexible to national ideologies shaping stakeholders’ perceptions, creating national legal platform to address logistical issues together with enhancing teamwork, new technology and environmentally friendly practices.
