    Stakeholder Participation, Project Monitoring And Evaluation, and Project Success.

    The current study intended to examine the relationship between stakeholder participation, project monitoring and evaluation practices and project success. A cross sectional research design couple with quantitative approach was adopted to investigate the study objectives using a sample of 92 health centers out of 126 health centers in Busoga region as the unit of analysis using simple random sampling. The study purposively solicited responses from 184 participants of; the nutritional focal person and the Village Health Team head at the health facility in each health center as the unit of inquiry. The findings of the study revealed a positive and significant relationship between Stakeholder‟s participation and project success in Busoga sub-region.The study results further revealed a strong positive and significant relationship between monitoring & evaluation and project success in Busoga sub-region. When combined, stakeholder participation and project monitoring and evaluation are significant predictors of project success. Furthermore, results showed that stakeholder participation and project monitoring and evaluation have significant individual influence on project success. However monitoring and evaluation appeared to be a stronger predictor variable of project success. Based on the findings, it is concluded that for project managers to carry out successful projects , stakeholder involvement is key. As such, the study recommends the government and health practitioners should know that monitoring and evaluation alone may not lead to project success without the involvement of stakeholders in the project activities and decision making. Further, so as to realise desired output, there is need to undertake baseline surveys, strengthen supervision and frequently solicit reports to enhance project Succes. Given that the study was cross-sectional, further studies can adopt a longitudinal design since certain behaviors and characteristics of the respondents might change over time. Furthermore, longitudinal studies can be undertaken to come up with conclusions on causality of stakeholder participation, Project monitoring, and evaluation and project success.
