- ItemProcurement Planning and Efficiency in Selected Research Projects in Makerere University, Uganda.(Makerere University Business School, 2026-09-02) Kibuuka, Michael JackoObjectives: To examine the effect of procurement planning on efficiency of selected SIDA funded research projects in Makerere University. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used to collect data from a sample at a particular time. In this study, a total of 343 research beneficiaries, comprising of PhD students, Post Doctorate students, Masters students and small research grants researchers was preferred as they were considered to have required knowledge because they are staff of Makerere University and other Public Universities who have used the University procurement system. All projects that did not have students (researchers) were excluded. A total of Seventeen (17) projects were considered. Purposive and the simple random sampling were used to select the samples. Data was collected using structured questionnaire and documentary checklist the qualitative data was transcribed, coded, and analyzed using Open Code version 4.02 to conduct a thematic analysis. For the quantitative data, statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the general distribution of variables, including frequency tables to assess whether they indicate procurement efficiency. Additionally, correlation and regression analyses were performed to explore relationships and impacts among the variables.
