    Information and Communication Technology Usage, System Risk Management, and user Satisfaction with System Performance of Manufacturing Firms in Uganda: A Case of Jinja

    The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between information and communication technology usage, systems risk management, and user satisfaction with system performance. The study objective(i) was to investigate the relationship between ICT usage and user satisfaction with system performance. Objective (ii) was to investigate the relationship between system risk management and user satisfaction with system performance, and objective (iii) was to investigate the combined relationship between ICT, system risk management, and user satisfaction with system performance. The study used systems theory to explain the relationship between the variables. A cross-sectional survey design was adopted by the study, and data was collected at one point in time, and questionnaires were used to collect data from the respondents. The research instruments were treated for validity using the content validity index and reliability using the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and the coefficients were well above the 0.7 threshold. The study was analysed for descriptive statistics using mean and standard deviation. Correlation was used to analyse the association between information and communication technology usage and systems risk management using the Pearson correlation coefficient, and the study findings indicated a positive association between ICT Usage and user satisfaction with system performance. To answer the research objectives, the study used hierarchical regression analysis, where it revealed ICT usage as a significant predictor of user satisfaction (β= .789) while system risk management was also indicated to be a predictor of user satisfaction (β=.287). The findings also indicated that ICT usage and system risk management, with the introduction of the number of employees altogether, explained user satisfaction with system performance by 68.7% (Adj = .687). 2 R The study therefore recommended the need for manufacturing firms to put more effort into ensuring that Information and Communication Technology usage levels are increased through acquiring the latest innovations, providing ICT skills to staff, enhancing staff productivity, and ensuring software compatibility with available ICT infrastructure. Further, the study recommended that manufacturing firms enhance their system risk management practices through improved security governance, vulnerability management, threat exposure, and system control analysis, which would improve the system performance for user satisfaction.
